Production FAQs
How do you handle continuity across non-linear shooting schedules?
We photograph every costume piece before and after cleaning from multiple angles, noting scene number, episode, and any visible wear patterns. These photos are stored in a secure digital gallery organized by character and episode. Each cleaned item is returned with waterproof tags showing character name, scene number, and any continuity notes (e.g., “dirt stain left knee – Scene 24”). For recurring costumes, we maintain a master log tracking every cleaning cycle, date, and treatment method. Our system allows costume departments to reference exact costume condition for any scene, even months later. All photo records are preserved through wrap and can be archived for potential reshoots.
Do you offer express or rush services aligned with call sheets?
Yes, we offer express turnaround specifically designed around shooting schedules. Share your call sheet and we’ll schedule pickup after wrap and deliver before next day’s call time. For same-day emergencies (on-set stains, unexpected reshoots), we provide 4-hour express service with priority processing. Rush services incur a 50% surcharge for same-day and 30% for next-call delivery. For productions with predictable schedules, we can pre-book express slots at discounted rates. We also offer an on-set attendant service (₹8,000/day) who stays on location for immediate stain treatment and can process items between takes using mobile equipment.
What are your damage waiver terms for vintage or delicate costumes?
We offer pre-negotiated damage protocols for high-value or irreplaceable costumes. Before processing, we conduct swatch tests on hidden areas (inner seams, hems) to validate treatment safety. For vintage, couture, or period pieces valued over ₹50,000, we require an itemized valuation list from production. Our standard waiver covers up to ₹5 lakhs per production; higher coverage requires additional insurance (arranged at cost). All delicate items are hand-processed separately with pH-neutral agents and flat-dried. For extremely fragile pieces, we offer consultation-only service where we guide the costume team through DIY spot cleaning. Damage waiver agreements are executed during onboarding and cover normal wear vs. processing damage.
How do dye stability tests work?
Before processing any costume, we perform dye stability checks: (1) Swatch test – if production provides fabric swatches, we test-wash them first. (2) Hidden area test – we dampen an inconspicuous seam or hem and blot with white cloth to check for color bleeding. (3) Colorfastness rating – fabrics are rated A (stable), B (moderate risk), or C (high risk). A-rated items proceed normally; B-rated items get cold water and gentle processing; C-rated items are hand-cleaned with dry methods or spot-treated only. We photograph all test results and get costume dept approval before full processing. For period costumes with natural dyes or hand-painted details, we recommend consultation with the original costume maker when possible.
How does labeling by character and scene work?
Every costume piece is tagged with waterproof, tear-resistant labels using industrial label makers. Each tag includes: (1) Character name (e.g., “MAYA – Lead”), (2) Scene/Episode number (e.g., “Ep 3, Scene 24”), (3) Costume description (e.g., “Blue kurta + dupatta”), (4) Continuity notes if relevant (e.g., “Dirt L knee”), (5) Date processed and batch number for our internal tracking. Tags are attached to garment care labels or inner seams where they won’t damage fabric or show on camera. For multi-piece outfits, we use matching batch codes (e.g., “MAYA-03-24-A, MAYA-03-24-B”). After cleaning, items are packed in clear bags labeled with the same information for easy identification. All labels remain on costumes through wrap unless requested otherwise.
